215/50r17 on a gen 3.5

Postby Enrique » Tue Sep 01, 2015 9:31 pm

Hello all,

Have any other gen 3.5ers tried fitting 215/50r17s?

It looks like there's enough room for them but I wondered if it scrapes at all and that's why no-one recommends them...

On a side note, how do 16" rims look on 3.5s, as that would be my other choice.

Thanks
Enrique

215/45/17 is the size of the wheel and tyre commonly found on the V6 Coupe's, fitting slightly higher profile tyres won't cause any issues with rubbing unless you were planning on lowering a substantial amount. I think the reason no-one reccomends them is because in general, a higher profile tyre looks worse, and a larger sidewall could cause more flex in the tyre, compromising handling (completely dependant on brand etc however).
In my opinion, the 16" wheels look a little small on the coupe, 17" or 18" I would say are the ideal size.
