Water in the footwell..

Postby serenity » Fri Jul 13, 2012 12:51 pm

Hey guys, I just had to fix this after a 'few' days worth of rain, thought I'd share some pics as it wasn't obvious from the Shop manual, nor research online.

Symptoms: Inch of water in the passenger footwell - non-greasy, so not coolant. Only in the footwell itself, nothing from the centre console direction nor behind the dash.

Diagnosis: Rain-water, either from sun-roof or somewhere else.

Fault-find: Open sun-roof, find drain-tube exit, drop some water down it and work out where it egresses. Turns out it exited at the bottom of the door pillar..

Fix: Remove the plastic shroud over the passenger sun visor, remove the 3 screws and sun-visor itself. Removed the passenger side plastic door pillar cover, then drop down the headlining in the corner (soaking wet of course!). Inside with a torch you can see the exit pipe from the sun-roof tray, and the detached drain tube over by the entrance to the door pillar recess. Simply re-attach and 2 and test. Water should exit under the car at the rear of the front wheel-arch..

Hope this is useful for someone else.

Would this be the same reason i get a few drops of water on the rear left seat after has been raining? Sort of get a few drops down from the join where the boot meets roof then it stops after driving :|
