Faulty Window Motor

Postby neil6534 » Wed Jun 06, 2012 6:45 pm

After buying a replacement motor for my window, I then went about replacing the old for the new. However after I removed the door card I then found that by moving the wires a little the motor then started to work. I then cabled tied the cables to the motor body to ensure the connection stayed firm and now have a fully working motor.

You may want to renew the connectors within the plug but other than that try this first before spending money on a new motor.

Faulty Window Motor

Good advice mate but in your situation I would have put the new motor in and eBayed the old one as working used. The things are notorious for giving up, just a matter of time and with a Gen 3 that means sooner rather than later! I replaced my working passenger side for new as well when my driver side went. I got £10 more for the second hand one than I paid for the new one from Korea as the buyer wanted one quick!

I recently bought my Gen 3 this weekend, having problems with the drivers window.

Took the door apart and had a quick look into things, traced the fault to the motor so i stripped it down and the brushes seem really worn.

i wouldnt imagine you can get new brushes so it looks like a motor replacement then. Only looking at 1 15min job to strip down and swap so not too bad.

Thanks
