Siii Headlights

Postby Grav » Tue Apr 20, 2010 10:57 pm

Alreet,

I have attempted to change the standard bulbs on my Siii with xenon bulbs and after about a hour of work which included removing the battery and cover, I discovered that I had changed my Full beam  . I then looked for how to access headlight bulbs and it looks like I have to remove the whole light.

Any information on how to do this would be much appreciated.

there are 3 10mm bolts and a wiring plug. 2 of the 10mm bolts are on the top of the lights and one of them is at the front. It's always easier to take out th headlight to change the bulbs than trying to fiddle about with them while they'r in the car

when you open the bonnet you'll see there is a plastic panel that runs between the 2 headlights, take that off and you'll see the 3rd screw you need to take out to get the unit out. and you don't need to worry about the aim adjustment as is adjusted inside te housing.

You CAN change the bulbs with the lights in place.
I know, I've done it.
But you tend to leave a lot of your knuckles behind............andthe blood in the headlamps gives you illegal red front lights after dark :(

As you've worked out, and as said above, the quickest (and more painless) ay is to remove the headlights.

I had a problem actually removing the smaller of the two plastic wires? The larger power one comed off fine (not much excess length there Hyundai!) but the smaller of the two won't budge?

It must be easy to do but I don't want to break any cables or connectors? Any advice as I need to remove them completley to do my Grill mod with my new mesh???

the smaller one is just a [pain], theres a little push clip at the back half you need to press while ya pull so it comes off
"push the back and it raises at the front and away ya go" but your better off just using a small flat head screwdriver to lift the front bit upby sliding it between it and the notch it's over.

goodluck, did mine the other day not much to it tbh.

but take the headlights out it'll make your life a lot easier, i'd have removed half my hand trying to get bulbs in on drivers side, and i dont think i'd have any chance on passenger side
