New Head Unit SIII

Postby Charlie_Coupe » Mon Sep 01, 2014 5:18 pm

Hi guys,

I am a complete novice when it comes to cars and making any changes.
With this in mind, do all double din head units fit any car?

I have been looking to upgrade mine and found this and wondered if it would fit ok in my 2009 coupe SIII

Thank you

Hi,

Guessing that you have the same centre console layout as me, you will need to get a single DIN unit, unless someone else has braved chopping into the plastic to make a larger slot and could tell you how to do it. You could always buy a stereo with a motorised screen if you want the larger display?

It can be done on the SIII but you'll need to relocate the extra dials elsewhere, I think somepeople have put them down below the ashtray bit.

I replaced mine with a single DIN bluetooth USB unit as it's a 20 minute swap job including drilling new holes in the existinga cage ;-)

ive put a double din unit in mine but left the 3 dails out so no hassle with relocating them.

I planned on removing the dials completely but wasn't sure if firstly, they were connected to the standard stereo and also if the new double din stereo would fit the gap where existing and dials are currently ?
