hyundai olympic torch run

Postby eddyp » Fri Jun 01, 2012 4:37 pm

right then, i know this is one of those crazy long shots, but ...

Who would be up for running a weekend event where a co-ordinated cruise takes place. we organise members to drive different legs of the journey.

So what i prepose to happen is we drive our own olympic flame (synthetic) from a torch (made from an old exhaust back box or pipe etc) from scottland down to londen through various towns/cities.

we could get sponsorship, get it on the telly to advertise the club and donate all proceeds to charity ...

just organise differnt members from around the uk to take on parts of the leg, driving in convoy of 3 or more cars at a time.

what are the thoughts??

Ed :)

just adding to my post is that we could possibly make it into a world record ...

be the first car club to do a olympic torch drive etc ...

the point is it doesnt have to be anything with the torch but that would be cool

meh

let me know

Ed 8-)

Sounds like an interesting idea. I think it's going to take quite a bit of organising and there will have to be unanimous agreement on the charity to benefit.

I suggest either SCOPE or the 3H Fund(a respite for carers organisation). I tend to edge toward disability support groups over other types of charities as my partner has Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida and a few other nasties.

I'll be prepared to do my bit if there is enough interest and I'm sure there are a few others from the SE regulars who would like to take part, too. This could happen :)

cool if we could get the interest i think it would be fun. as for getting it together for charity, we can always split it between a few ...

i think i shall give this another week to see how much interest we get 8-)

All depends when as per usual and how much if any fuel is available as I seem to be up-to my eyeballs in bills at the moment!
