I have a somewhat ageing TomTom One that I use when traveling around. Whilst playing about and updating the maps today I noticed that the startup and shutdown logos are just Bitmaps.
A quick google around shows they can be changed quite easily, so I though hmm what about one with a nice picture of my Coupe. Turns out its quite nice and easy.
I have lifted the guide from http://goo.gl/1hjlA so you can check the details.
The process is as follows
1. Select the image or photograph you want to have displayed on your TomTom device.
2. Re-size the image to:
320 pixels wide x 240 pixels high (TomTom ONE, ONE 3rd edition)
480 wide x 272 pixels high (TomTom ONE XL/XL*S, GO 720/920/T)
3. Save the image as a 24-bit Bitmap file named “splash.bmp” (ONE) or “splashw.bmp” (ONE XL/XL*S, GO 720/920/T)
4. Plug Your TomTom device into your computer via the USB cable
5. Open your TomTom “hard drive” within My Computer
6. Locate the original splash file which is called either “splash.bmp” or “splashw.bmp” and rename it “splash1.bmp” (this naming allows you keep the original TomTom splash screen)
7. Copy your image (splash.bmp OR splashw.bmp) from your computer to the same TomTom directory
8. Disconnect and boot up your TomTom device. Your personalized picture should be there to greet you when you turn it on.
BE ADVISED: When modding your device, ALWAYS create a backup using TomTom HOME software.
This is the guide for the start up screen, for the shutdown screen it is called antitheft.bmp (maybe called something else if its not a Tom-Tom One)
And here are some logos that I have made, feel free to play around and make your own!

There are 320x240 they can be used as startup or shutdown screens
If people are interested and want me to make some more logos I can on request
I hope this guide is useful
