:yeahthat I went back and forth between Sky and AF about 6 times with the new quotes the other was offering, or lower excesses or added benefits. Each time they came back with a slightly improved offer

You tried Admiral? I had a Saxo VTR for my first car paid £600 & something.

Unless your doing a lot of mod's then Admiral will probably say no. :)

wait until after your birthday, it may seem irrelevant but 18 and 364 days is still classed as 18, 1 day older and you will get a small discount for being 19

Wait I have just looked, on the insurance page when I put in the Registration, it is saying the car is a SIII, not a TSIII, and I have tried a few others and they all say SIII as well...is this supposed to come up, or should it be SIII?

I wouldnt worry to much my reg plate doeasnt even show as the car on some comparisons and does on others. Just phone up afterwards and say about it... then you get the chance to beat them down on price.

Turns out on confused.com I hadn't changed my birth month from January to February.
So, insurance for me now, 8 days from being 19: £2100
Insurance in 8 days when I'm 19: £1400

INSURANCE COMPANIES DON'T MAKE SENSE!

I'm a bit worried about the tsiii coming up as an siii for insurance, it wont invalidate it or anything will it?

Nah, makes perfect sense. You're a year older; insurance is cheaper for people with more years than not. It's a good idea to womble it such that your renewal is just after your birthday so that you take advantage of this.

Nah, I think you'd be fine if that's what the car is registered as on the book.

Then again if you're buying a TSIII I guess £500 aint gonna make that much difference to you at the end of the day haha.

I just meant so much difference for 8 days haha

Well I called the dealer up and they said that the car for them is coming up as an automatic, even though it is a manual...did Hyundai make a cock up somewhere?

TSIII is manual only.. some garages like to call their siii a TSIII. baffles me why, as it clearly isn't.

When I was getting quotes my insurance company had the body type of the car as saloon(don't know if it makes a difference)
When I said no it's a coupe she went all quiet and just went "Erm... I'll just put saloon."

And on the comparison sites I've gotten quotes £200 apart from the same company, one to start on the 1st and the other on the second...

Im 23, 6+ years no claims and on a 2001 2.0l Turbo i pay £760 odd with Adrian Flux, was paying £600 and something with them last year but mods raised my renewal. Still not bad i'd say.

Sky are useless sorry beyond useless for me they have never been able to give me a quote that has been near to anyone else ever, even on my old N/A Coupe.
