Right.. this will crop up in many different forms, and I'm eager to avoid people thinking "Oh my gosh not another MPG Thread" so the plan is to use the fuelly.com tracking systems to get ourselves a decent idea of what our average MPG's are.

Got an app on my iPhone whereby you enter your mileage, price per litre/gallon fuel added in either litres/gallons/cost plus any other expenses you have from new tyres, servicing, insurance or anything else you spend on your car and it works out you motoring costs, including you mpg for you... Been using it since november, done about 5,700 miles and average mpg is 29.8...

For anyone who got the iPhone, the app is called Road Trip... There's also a free lite version... Works out your daily, weekly, monthly and annual motoring costs... It's a pretty kool app, quite scary tho when you realise how much you spend...

Will check out the site a above when I'm at my pc... :)

The Fuelly web-site has a very nice iPhone optimised version. I use it just after filling up... no need to jot down or remember figures, just tap them straight into the site :)

I only ever put in £15 (saves lugging around all that fuel for just short journeys).. But that does me about 120 miles or so... I think you have lead lining in your right shoe? haha or your just cruising around town all the time.

Also.. I didnt know fuelly had a iphone app.... will have to check that one out..

My S111 2.0 ltr. Auto has nose dived as far as mpg is concerned whilst we've been experiencing such cold weather for such a long time. Roll on summer.
I still advocate having tyres filled with nitrogen (for gods sake don't get confused with hydrogen or you'll experience a one time boost in acceleration....straight up!) This increased my mpg by around 30mpg a tank. Not a huge amount but this was consistent over a number of tanks full and so over a year it's quite a saving.
Cost of Nitrogen for four tyres....around £10.
Pays for itself very quickly and in the mean time, the consistent tyre pressures (which make the saving) also reduces tyre wear so there's another saving.

This is a great thread. I get annoyed when anyone talking mpg gets slammed with "if you're worried about mpg, you shouldn't buy a coupe". I don't expect superb fuel economy - I knew what it was likely to achieve when I bought it - but I do want to know that it's basically doing OK and not guzzling vastly more gas than it should! Manufacturer figures aren't much use but the experience of other owners gives a useful comparison.

As for nitrogen in tyres, another (claimed) benefit is prevention of wheel corrosion under the tyre, since the nitrogen is dry and inert.

Oh, and petrolprices.com is worth signing up to if you want regular (even daily) emails detailing the cheapest petrol prices in your area. Apologies if that's already been suggested...

It's a Gen3 2.0 - looks like it's doing the best of those posted so far :D . I don't tend to thrash it but still have some fun with it. No mods; Michelin Primacy HP tyres. Average should be going up a bit as I've changed from a 5-mile journey to work that took 15 minutes to a 10-mile journey that takes 20 minutes.

(Silver Girl is the name of the car  not the owner 8-) before anyone sharks me)
