Hyundai Service Schedule

Postby hyunky » Wed Jan 25, 2012 9:30 pm

That's a nicely unique Coupe, not seen it before.

As it was registered in March 2012 there is an argument that yours could be due it's '10 Year/100,000 whichever is sooner' Service in March!

Would all depend on your previous Service History and what you've had done and when

With running an older V6 I have learnt from my time on here that it is really important!.

Hyundai Recommended Service Schedule below. Is for vehicles Sep 2002 onwards but still relevant to you I understand...

I'm just throwing it in there for anyone searching 'Service Schedule' as well as you!

At the 5 Year/50,000 and 10 Year/100,000 it is due a Cam Belt Change.

When this is done by a Hyundai Dealer they do everything in this Cam Belt change kit. This is not mentioned in the schedule!

Cheapest kits I've currently found are available from here at the moment

There are cheaper kits but if you look in the small print they don't include all the components above!

what happens if the dealer do the major service earlia. I bought mine from dealer at 50K and they did the major service then. So come 60k do i just have a simple oil filter and oil change?

If they did the major Cam Belt service at 50K they did it at the right mileage. You may well be out of sync time/years wise now but it is an accepted practice to reset this and use the cam belt change service as the servicing schedule time benchmark from now on. But it would be wise to follow the schedule to the letter from now on!

A year or 10,000 miles later (from date of service) whichever is sooner it will be due what would be the 6 Year/60,000 Mile Service as shown above everything with an 'R' should be renewed. Bit more than oil and filter change unfortunately! Clutch Fluid change for example being an important thing not to be missed as only done very 6 years/60,000 miles and as said above you may well be out on the year sync now so many well not have been done for 7 odd years!

Thanks mate. I gatered that would be the case. I dont mind it getting serviced as it would be the first amount of money id spent on the coupe. How much is the 6 year or 60k service roughly cost from the main dealer anyone?

Just what I was looking for, all them components! My car is just over 5 years old and a few thousand off 50k so im going to get all that done :)

How long should a garage take to fit all of that lot would anyone reckon? I dont want to go into a garage, give em the parts and then get bummed by labour because im clueless haha

I was so chuffed when I found them all listed, I hoped it would help someone :D

Worth doing as much as you can. There is a train of thought it doesn't all need doing. But the things they are changing might be OK now but if/when they go in the future it's back in the garage (more business for them!) and more cost and you could risk damage to engine. My thought is better to stick to schedule and get done now whilst they are in under the bonnet and have engine apart anyway, to a point it is why they are changed at this service! I mean the cam belt is OK now but you are still changing it and so you should!

Not sure to be honest. I would go to a Dealer. Get a breakdown quote for the Cam Belt Kit change only labour should be shown in this and you'll have a benchmark to work from! You'd need to add a bit of time for a garage to do the 'I' Inspection bits above which would be worth doing and will get you a stamp in your Service Book!

I would just ring/pop into your local dealer mate!

Just thought i'd share this. I sent the guy my VIN in an email and was told for my car it will be an extra $30. The following part number is different.

Original part in auction - Belt tensioner - 24410 23400
Part for MY car (SIII) - Belt tensioner - 24410 23050

Would explain why im having trouble sourcing a "cheap" timing belt kit, as I think the difference is the Gen 3.5 is Manual tensioning, and the SIII is Automatic Tensioning. Anyone know if thats right? Cheers folks!
