Front Left Wheel Squeak

Postby Loque » Mon Mar 28, 2011 4:50 pm

Hi all,

This is driving me absolutely crazy at the moment. I have a squeak coming from the front left. It's audibly in-line with the revolution of the wheel; it gets more frequent if I go faster - up to about 25mph - then it goes. It goes completely, regardless of speed if I start braking, which makes me think that it is something to do with the brakes. Either way any help would be appreciated as it's driving me mental.

Oh this will make me angry if you're right. I wore the damn Mtecs in well too and they've only been on there 6 months or so.

I'm not getting any vibrations through the pedal mind?

Does sound like warping but give a good hoseing out to get rid of dust and make sure the backs of pads and where they touch the caliper have a good spray or coat of copperslip first to make sure they are moving forward and back properly and not getting slightly stuck.

I had this problem, on both sides of my gen2.

I took the caliper of the disk and split from the pad carrier, then got the wire brush and cleaned all the rust that had occured on the sliders as the seals werent on properly, then put some copper grease on and they have been fine since.

Cheers

Dan

Sounds like the pads have some crap on them.

i would take the pads out chamfer the edges and give them a light coppergreasing , if your getting no vibration through the pedal when braking its unlikely to be the disks ,prob just needs a good clean........Trev

Ok, thanks for the replies all.

This has taken a turn for the bizarre:

We took the pads off the car and gave them a good clean up and put new copper grease on them. This appeared to sort the problem out as it went away for a few days.
What makes no sense now is the fact that it's back. And this time it has nothing to do with the brakes... It happens when I turn slightly left. I straighten up and it goes away...
Any further ideas?

woz had this problem and it occured his wishbone became abit loose. My front does that when i turn as wheel, but mine is because the tyres rub a little bit on the inner plastics when i do full lock, but when i change the tyres to smaller ones i reckon it should be fine.
