Presuming you are on a PC not a Mac!

Go to the Picture you want as your Avatar in your folder!

Right Click on it

Select 'Open With'

Select 'Microsoft Office Picture Manager'

Once opened... At the Top Click 'Picture'

Select 'Resize'

Over on the right Click the button for 'Custom width x height'

Enter '100' in both boxes then click 'OK'
(100 x 100 is the maximum size your avatar can be on this site - it will amend the sizes automatically for you if its not square)

Picture should now be tiny in middle of screen.

Click 'File' on the Top and then go through the process to 'Save As' something appropriate in an appropriate file!

That will now be saved.

Click on the 'X' top right within Picture Manager.

Will warn you that you have not saved this, it is talking about the size amendments to original photo.

Your Avatar 'has' been saved so click 'don't save' and your original photo will remain same size in original location!

Gen 3 Alloys

Postby hyunky » Thu Feb 16, 2012 3:07 pm

You do see the odd set of really good ones on eBay every now and again but they are few and far between!

If you want mint-mint 7 year old + wheels you really are looking at getting yours refurbished. Like you said you are in the minority (not a bad thing in my book) so you won't find many for sale that have already been recently refurbished properly (but you do see them every now and again), most owners will just upgrade to Hyundai 17" or aftermarket when they get too tatty.

If you are not concerned about the tyres you can pick up a set of Gen 3 16's for £30-£50 now which may well have 2 good ones (if they've been kept on the back throughout their life). So buying two sets and running with the best 4 wheels and tyres out of the 12 is a financial option. Just ask in the Sales and Wants.

They are hidden away a bit in the thread but a Set of Gen 3 16's for £30
sales-wants-car-accessories-parts/wheels-tyres-gen1-and-t15009.html

I'm running with my Standard 16's in the winter. I have two near mint ones like this and two bit-tatty ones so am looking at finding 2 better ones myself using my own advice above!

That looks like 2 separate cars stuck together, big improvement over the 16's as I've already stated.

How do you keep your car so clean!?

15 Years Military Conditioning.

War disablement pension for head/brain injury which has left me with my own OCD as well as few other nasty things.

Most junk possessions at my parents or binned due to OCD so have a very clear garage that it spends most of it's time in.

Friend works in a hand car wash place so its normally done once a week for only £5 including a coffee and a chat and the ability to say can you give that bit there a really good going over!

Too much time on my hands when I'm on a medication trial/or on re-hab programme.

Use the Car as a sort of project to work out problems and help get my co-ordination back as part of re-hab and always give the area I'm working on a good clean and touch up.

Hand polishing helps with my co-ordination / pressure sensing. I do everything by hand in my life. Polishing Car helps me get better!

Usually Medically unfit to drive early in the day and have free public transport pass so car not used for many local journeys.

I have to avoid night time winter driving whenever possible.

Sadly it is often sat in the garage unused for a week at a time, what a waste of a lovely car!

Mainly used for 2 x 400ish miles journeys a month, tend not to take photos of it at the end of one of them!

How's that for starters :D Would rather have a normally dirty car and a normal life to be completely honest :(

How about having a go at a diy refurb over the summer? Its been done plenty of times and results tend to be great if you put in a bit of time. You could pick up a cheap set of spare wheels to use then swap them over once completed :)

Yep that is always an option if you have the confidence/ability/time to do it, you did a good job on the fuel cap!

Not any no. The coupe PCD is 114.3 but you would need to check offset and centre bore also. Your best and cheapest option is to get another set of 16's. Ill be getting rid of mine very soon lol :)

No! I found post #11 in this thread usefull recently.

post145851.html?hilit=wheels#p145851

Although it is about how to sell some wheels it gives all the info on what to look for when buying!

Personally I wanted to keep mine stock Hyundai and upgrade to a set of either Gen 3 V6 - Gen 3.5 2.0 17" or Siii 17" but I got my aftermarket ones at a price I could not refuse and at a price that was cheaper than getting the 17" stock ones, getting then refurbed and then putting new tyres on as I wanted Mint-Mint!

The Siii wheels do look particularly nice on a Silver Gen 3 for sure!

Yeah the professionals (who don't pay re-listing fees) will keep listing singles ones at those sort of prices as if you have the time and storage space you will always find someone who has buckled/kerbed one and will pay that for a single to get back on the road! Problem is (as a buyer)they are used as a benchmark by sellers and artificially inflate the asking price of them until reality creeps in!

I've seen sets go for anything from £100 to £300! It's all about timing and demand!

Prime example of this is the Centre Caps on our Gen 3 16's. Put them (just the Caps) individually up for auction and I've seen them go for up to £25 each! And you can buy a Set of 4 Wheels, Tyres and Caps for £50!!!

Or another option that ive done is vinyl wrap them. I refurb alloys and charge £100 no colour. And silver alloys dont need full paint £200 is for heavily damaged alloys that need full paint. My Coupe is stock with just a few touches i like the coupe the way it came out of the factory. So i agree with the oem alloys. Vinly wrap them £25 all in.

Any reason they put the weight on the outside of the alloy?
No offence, but looks terrible, and damages the alloy. They should of used sticky weights on the inside for that. Just my $0.02.

Non taken mate and completely agree. Plan over the summer is to sort my 16's out and I'll be getting them balanced elsewhere. Guy who's been doing it up til now along with my tracking is a bit old school and just sees wheels as clumps of metal and only uses to the old school weights on the outside edges. To be honest I can't really complain due to the price I pay in the first place as I get done every 6 months. All of them had the weights on the outside when I bought anyway so where already 'damaged' around the edges.
