Possible eBay dodger

Postby serenity » Mon Feb 06, 2012 10:45 pm

Might be the wrong section to post this so move if necessary please:

Ebay Item:150750853584

Emailed them asking if the headlamps were correct for this car, ie: no ambers, also was the photo of the actual car and how much for just the driver's side (I already have a passenger's side). Answer, nothing to former, yes to latter, £60 delivered.

Ridiculously cheap price I think, emailed back asking how much for the pair - answer £100 delivered and call this number to order.. (0203 landline).

Checks their profile, 0 feedback and only joined about 5/6 days ago. Emailed back saying list them as a Buy It Now for the price quoted and send me the Item No and I'd buy them straight off.

Email back today from them, they don't accept PayPal (listing says they do) and I can collect for cash.. No Sale I said (Inverness to Essex a bit of a trek like).

Anyway, thought I'd post it here for your opinion/info as someone might know these guys - pays to be safe I find.

Cheers - Paul.

They are breaking e-bay rules, so report them.

I'm sure this exact car has been listed before - I usually email all breakers when they list Gen3.5s and price up the headlights (if they have them and for a half decent price I link them here) and I don't think they replied to me at all the last time (I think the eBay name was slightly different last time).
I'd say dodgy seller but that doesn't necessarily mean dodgy product. I wouldn't trust them with my card details over the phone (breakers that are going out of business will sometimes charge all cards again (yes, they sometimes store card details, naughty naughty!). I'd personally see if you can get an Essex member to go round and (if all good) pay cash and you wang them an extra £10, plus fuel money for going and p&p to send it.
Will cost more but I don't trust breakers as a general rule anymore since I've been stung once for parts that never arrived and once for a double charge.

Also never, EVER, pay one by bank transfer. With a credit (and some debit) card payment (even over the phone) you can get the bank to get you the money back from their fraud insurance. You cannot get anything back if you sent the money by bank transfer.

It was listed as a complete car for spares/repairs needing an engine as the current one was knocking/smoking. I know that 'cause I was thinking about buying it complete and fitting my Gen3 engine.

It was quickly removed and put up as a breaker.
