Wipers / Screen

How do you clean and keep your Hyundai Coupe in tip top condition?
What products are best to use to clean your car?

Wipers / Screen

Postby Plasmastorm » Wed Oct 12, 2011 9:22 pm

Not sure if this is strictly the right section but I'm going to class it as cleaning.

Soo...

I replaced the standard Bosch wipers (front and back) with cheapy areo's from Tesco. All good.
However the front passenger side wiper once at full virtical posistion, just before it goes back down, leaves about 1/2" of what I can only describe as a smear the length of the blade and a ever so slight dull squeak. This is slightly lessened in heavy rain but not by much.
I have cleaned the screen with Auto glym glass cleaner and various other things without any change.
Also when going out in the morning after being parked up overnight the windscreen has the outline of the wipers on the glass.
Originally I put it down to the wipers being new and figured I'd give it a week to settle in and let the wipers maybe mold slightly to the shape of the glass but after 2 there's no difference.

They clean the front absolutely fine but I'm worried that the little 1/2" smear may cause scratching or some marks over a long period. But to be honest I'll probably replace the windscreen in the next 6-8 months anyway due to lots of little chips showing up when the suyns at the right angle.
Laugh as you may but this is my 2nd car and the alst was a Pug 206 purely for the 1st year of insurance so I'm still rather new to it all
All I'll say is; Tell me something once and I'll learn + remember it :D

It's quite common for a small area to not clear; it could be that the spring that holds your wiper arms down is a bit weak

Still might be the cheap rubber or grease on the new rubber. WD40 then totally wipe off to make sure no grease on there. Or try cutting a lemon in half and dragging rubber through it a few times. Acid might breakdown the rubber just enough to fix it. I have encountered this with new blades before and worked for me.

On my old Accord I had Tesco Aero wipers, seemed fine till one flew off in the rain at 60mph, luckily on the passenger side.

I've also tried the Valeo's from Halfords, not bad but i am going back to Aeros from www.wiperblades.co.uk as for £20 ish quid you can get all three wipers for the coupe and so far i have never had an issue with them.

My cheap aero wipers didn't quite sit flush to the windscreen, leaving a smear.

A few seconds bending the wiper arm ever so slightly cured that though. Never had any other issues with them!

Looked at the wipers on that site, but what's best ? Bosch, Valeo's etc. or are they all pretty much the same ?
