Afternoon everyone

Since the day and hour i bought my Gen 2 i have been plagued with issues (bought a bucket lol) from no brakes to the timing belt snapping and a replacement engine having to be installed. Engine is great, still trying to resolve the issue with the ABS.

The ABS dash light does not come on neither does the engine check light and also the seat belt warning light, which i can live with

My latest issue is that the handbrake/brake fluid light is constantly on and is rather annoying

I have removed both the sensor connection on the master cylinder and also the handbrake switch so as to eliminate them but the damn light still stays on, think i'm, jinxed lol.

Any suggestions (other than a can of petrol & match lol) would be appreciated

First up, have you checked the bulbs behind the ABS and Check Engine light?

My clocks don't have the option of a bulb for the CEL, even though you can see the outline of the light.
My car doens't have ABS so obv the ABS doesn't light up.

Does the Gen2 have sensors on the brakes themselves? Pad sensor's or something similar? Did it go off when you disconnected any of the sensors/switches?

The Seat Belt Light on the Gen 1 and Gen 2 does not work in the UK so dont worry about that light.
I would be quite sure a Gen 2 has ABS but as said Check to see if the Bulbs are there or Blown.
Sounds like some of the wires have been wired up wrong.
I remember a member on here Saying his dash lights had come on and did not know why and his car was running Fine. When he topped up the fuel the lights went out. so the Fuel warning light was some how connected wrong.

the UK spec 2.0l gen2 has ABS, the 1.6 does not. The handbrake light will come on if the rear calipers seize on, go for a drive and see if your rear wheels get hot.

Thanks for the responses guys.

Rear brakes are fine, going to perform an ECU reset tonight to see if that cures the darn light and give it big licks as i previously drove Miss Daisy for fuel consumption lol

Next check will be the BCM to see if any wires are shorting etc, ah the joys lol

ECU reset , still got the damn handbrake warning light coming on, getting majorly annoyed with it now.
I am going to get the dash off and just pull the bulb
