no central locking, clock resetting, heating resetting

no central locking, clock resetting, heating resetting

Postby RomeoCoupe » Mon Jan 23, 2012 1:36 am

hi all,

I've made a boo boo somewhere along the line of installing my 2 din head unit on friday. I installed everything ok and worked no problem, but i was getting peed off that the head unit kept resetting (radio stations, equalizers) everytime i took the keys out of ignition, so i swapped the yellow and red wires over as i read in the other topics on this forum.

However, as doing this...now i have the following problems:
no central locking
no interior lights
head unit not working (power light flickers only)
clock keeps resetting itself after switching ignition off
and the heating controls reset to 23.5'c after ignition off..

im hoping its a nothing serious!, but with all these problems im worried ive done a good job of damaging the electrics. I have checked the fuses under the bonnet and also inside the car by the drivers side....they seem to be all ok..or have i missed any others?

Also i will post pics of the on my other post (Removing centre dials and relocating them) i think i've done a good job...shame its not working.

I look forward to any help...please.

Thank you

RomeoCoupe

Fuse box by your right knee, replace the fuse under the yellow cover.

As said above. Sounds like the 'hidden' yellow fuse has gone.

Thank you guys!! much apprieciated!! i was a little worried there!!

Now i need to work out how to sort the radio out from resetting itself after taking key out of ignition... For some reason, when swapping the red and yellow wires over, it knackers my fuse in the secret yellow box...

anyway, i've added photos of my 2 din head unit on my other topic 'Removing centre dials and relocating them'

Thanks guys!

I presume the bullet connectors are all well covered and there's nothing in there that could have shorted it when you pushed everything back in? Worth checking, though it would normally blow the audio fuse. Also, are you sure it's not because of the relocated dials?

Hi Joff,
Yes i used all proper conectors..all covered!!, im not sure if its the head unit itself?!?!?

I dont think relocating the dials would cause that?? however, as soon as i spoke to the audio specialist guy and he has an answer and hopefully sorted, i will let you know the answer..

hi Testdasi,

the cause of the secret yellow fuse blowing was due to the aftermarket radio.....i would never of believed it in a million years!...the audio guy was confused to why he blew the same fuse twice, when testing the head unit power cables with his electric thingy box, the cables were labelled wrong way round on the head unit itself....nothing to do with the wiring from the car. The audio guy said that in all the years he's been doing his job, he has never come across that before...

Ignition wire, battery power and earth wire were all arse about face!! so when purchasing a erisin head unit....double check.

Just because of 3 wires, it caused all those problems!!

hope this helps!
