It would still turn over if the crank sensor was dead wouldnt it? I would have thought starter motor if it won't even do that...

but obv iv never left it this long.
it tries its hardest but just wont go over.
the more i charge the more times and more powerful it sounds,
ive been told it may be the battery [broken].,

Likely its just from being sat our yaris did something similar, get some jump leads and try it from a car (van or big diesel is best) whilst holding the throttle open. I bet you'll find it catches after a while (probably need cranking for a good few seconds)

ooops ok old man moment
did'nt realise you meant won't turn over as in engine turning over

what do you mean by it stutters ??
if you left the battery connected all this time then yeah it could be battery
did you get the clicking noise from starter motor when trying to turn over , or even a click ?

well ive taken all this on board but still nothing.,
at first battery didnt do anything all my electrics went off.
put a battery charger to it for a day, power back, i think it turns over, but it just struggles to get that extra bit of power, to actually start the car.
added someoil into the car i just cant think what it might be?

What kind of battery charger? If its properly dead I'd be surprised if a day would do it.

Try jumping from a similar sized car/van

It depends on the charge current. It could also be the battery is just buggered through being discharged too far. Try jumping it, It might well be spark plugs, but since you haven't yet eliminated the most common and easiest checked problem theres no point chucking extra cash at it.

from what you have mentioned i would put my money on it needing a new battery. iirc it only needs to be something like 0.5v under a certain voltage and the car wont start.

yep, or any garage going if you have one closer. are you in the aa? Quick call to get it started (they carry huge jumpstarters) will sort the diagnosis straight out - its a pretty common battery, so I imagine most would have it on the van ready to sell you.

Halfords will probs tell you its knackered. Most garages carry a battery testing tool.
It's probs just completely dead.

Any scrap yards local to you?
I picked up a battery for my old jeep for £3, then got £2 back when I scrapped my old (knackered) battery in. Sorted.

What was the solution in the end?
Was it the battery?

no bizarre really.
obviously because it hasnt moved,
maybe the rotary or something was just stiff , i pushed the car out onto the road and pushed it back into the drive the other way round, so i could get bigger cars to go head onto it.,
and it must have done something because after hooking it up to a similar sized car it just fired up after 5 mins,
IM DELIGHTEDD

I had a car ages ago where the starter motor would get stuck and I had to occasionally rock the car forwards / backwards while in gear to free it up.
Maybe its a similar case with yours from being sat for so long.
Glad its sorted!
