The Immobiliser is part of the ECU and part of the car. The evidence is that it is a Gen 3 Hyundai Coupe! This is seperate from the Alarm issue completely. Alarm itself should make no difference to Insurance!
petrolhead_rob wrote:It is very possible that the reason as to why the key didnt come with the fob, is that your coupe may have a scorpion alarm, these are prone to having issues - if you have a black D shaped cylinder thingy under the bonnet it is a scorpion alarm. No point getting a fob. Best bet would be to get a new alarm fitted
99.9% sure the alarm has been disconnected due to it being faulty. DO NOT whatever you do take it to a Hyundai Dealer for this problem. A scorpion/alarm specialist will not touch it unless they want to rip you off! They are pretty much unfix-able.
Ignoring all the off topic stuff about the fog light there is a really good explanation on the problems with the scorpion alarm from 'The Dupleman' in this thread!
audio-electrical-lighting/fog-light-lens-t14452.html?hilit=alarmRob has linked above to a thread that describes what most people are doing now. Just getting fitted/or fitting themselves a system that just locks and unlocks the doors! Either that or get a complete new alarm fitted but that will obviously cost more!
Had your welcome post been 'I'm thinking of buying a Gen 3 what shall I look out for' this would have been top of the list in the replies!
Seriously buddy I know this is a social experience on here as well and members are willing put themselves out to help but stuff like this we have covered time and time and time and time and time again. Just try and use the search feature before asking!
